Use Del.icio.us bookmarks creatively (Firefox only)

Interesting use of del.icio.us with Firefox (and a dash of google’s browser sync)

This may be more common than I think, but I haven’t seen any reference to it anywhere. Del.icio.us is a social bookmarking site, but I have a different (additional) use for it. In combination with Firefox, it’s really useful to me.

Ingredients:

Now you have a place to store bookmarks and never lose them. When visit a site you want to bookmark, click your “Post to del.icio.us” bookmarklet, and type a description and some tags. I thought that was really nice, but wait! There’s more!

Now get the Google browser sync tool at http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/browsersync/. This is a really great tool as it syncs a whole bunch of things from Firefox to any computer you use. The cool bit here is that it will sync your toolbar and the brand new fancy schmancy del.icio.us bookmark thingy goes everywhere with you. If you can’t tell, I like this setup. You can also use this trick for other peoples del.icio.us pages, but for me, I like to have one for http://del.icio.us/popular (which mirrors http://Digg.com amazingly closely!) It’s a good place to get browsing suggestions when you just want to wander a bit and keep up to date on geek stuffs.
